Vancouver Rent Up 3.3% While 8 Metro Cities Drop: September’s Two-Speed Market

Liv.rent released its Metro Vancouver Rent Report on Friday, September 18, 2026, and the headline figure is stark: Vancouver is the only city in the region where rent for an unfurnished one-bedroom apartment is more expensive than it was a year ago. The average climbed 3.32 per cent year-over-year to $2,328 per month. Meanwhile, eight of the nine Metro Vancouver cities tracked by the platform saw rents fall below September 2025 levels. The regional average for an unfurnished one-bedroom dropped 3.95 per cent year-over-year and 0.64 per cent month-over-month to $2,085. The data suggests Vancouver proper is decoupling from the broader regional trend in a way that could shift how landlords and tenants negotiate renewals this fall.
